ANUA recently announced Kendall Jenner as their new global brand ambassador and the most popular product she’s been seen with is the PDRN Collagen Glow Serum Spray. Now K-Beauty is all the rage right now especially among black women but before you press that order button, you have to know that celebrity beauty product launches are mostly never tested on deeper skin tones like ours.
What PDRN Actually Is
PDRN (short for polydeoxyribonucleotide) is a bioactive compound generated from the pure DNA of salmons. PDRN activates the cell receptors in charge of repairing tissue and producing collagen. It was initially used for wound healing before being adopted for cosmetic purposes. Anua’s product combines 2,000ppm of PDRN with hyaluronic acid and hydrolyzed collagen in an oil-in-essence spray, and generates from small oil capsules suspended in a watery mist. According to Anua, the spray instantly hydrates your skin, gives you a luminescent glow and firms up your skin over time. They also say that it blends well with makeup products.
How It Actually Performs
Most serums are slightly thick and have to be applied on the skin using your finger tips to ensure evenness. So, you’re probably wondering if a spray serum has the same evenness.
ANUA swears that their formula spreads evenly and doesn’t leave any wet spots. Most reviewers like Grazia Daily and Lovely Beauty also agree that it absorbs quickly into the skin. However, we couldn’t find any concrete reviews from dark skinned women on how the product felt on their skins. We’re working on getting the product to our community members for testing and will update this article with results as soon as testing is done.
The one thing we can verify is that the serum absorbs fast without leaving any greasy finish on the skin. Some reviewers, including those with oily skin, testify that it works well as a setting spray that melts beautifully into the skin. If you want a serum that doesn’t leave a heavy cast, it could be a great choice for you.
When it comes to how it blends with other skin care products, we also found some positive reviews. It doesn’t pool under or over your makeup and it’s safe to use in the morning and evening. It also works well with other routine skincare ingredients.

We did not find any reviews that directly compare how this product works in the UK and US. The product is designed to be comfortable even in dry places. This sounds like it could work well for UK winters which’re usually cold and dry because of central heating.
In more humid places, like the US the product might make oily skin look too shiny. Some people who used products said this happened to them.

Skin types and tones this genuinely suits: If you have dry, dehydrated, and normal skin and you’re looking for a lightweight product that hydrates your skin, this product is a suitable choice.
The product’s non-comedogenic, low-fragrance, mild-pH profile is also a good fit for sensitive skin generally, though we don’t yet have melanin-rich-skin-specific data to confirm if it reads the same way it does in the reviews out there.
Which market it’s worth buying in: This product is best for women in the US, where it’s easily accessible across multiple retailers at a sure price. We can’t currently recommend the UK purchase path with confidence until we’ve confirmed the Cult Beauty listing.
Skip this product if you have a history of PIH from using new active ingredients. It’s best to patch-test first and watch how your skin reacts to it. Also avoid this product if you have oily-skin and live in a hot, humid climate like Nigeria and the UK. It’s best to go for a product that has a mattifying finish instead.
